CafeTran Tutorial for Beginners

Flash Start

This entry is very old, and doesn't reflect the current procedure in CafeTran anymore.

The following is based on CafeTran's official Handbook/Help, but aimed specifically at Mac OS users.

This first two parts are intended for users who don't have translation memories (TMs) yet, or don't want to use one.

UPDATE: Connect to Two TMs in the Project Manager
Igor changed the Project Manager. Again. The early May 2012 update - or should I say the 03 May 2012 18:46 update? - features enabling Memory for Terms next to the Memory for Segments. Great. Great for users, not so much for bloggers who have to write updates constantly.

Anyway, if you use the Big Mama and Big Papa approach, you can now set both in the Project Manager, and CafeTran will remember those settings for your next project. And you can select New Memory for both segments and terms. Setting External Memories is beyond the scope of this Flash Start.
